Built by Maurice Durand, the town's architect in the 1950s, it was an integral part of the reconstruction of the Remblai after the Second World War.
Conceived as an ornament to the promenade, the architect decided to use a German blockhouse as a "foundation" for this 8m-high clock!
The clock was inaugurated on 1 July 1956. Since then, it has become a must-see for the people of Sablais.
