The Beaches

At the end of 2021, the Baie des Sables d'Olonne was recognised as one of the"Most Beautiful Bays in the World" by the international association of the same name, which groups together 45 bays in 27 countries around the world.

Smoke-free beaches

From April to September

This concerns the beaches :

• Tanchet,
• des Présidents,
• and Grande Plage.

The town of Les Sables d'Olonne has been awarded the 'Smoke-free beach' label and is actively involved with the Ligue contre le cancer in protecting non-smokers from passive smoking and avoiding cigarette butts in the water and sand.

Beach accessibility

The town of Les Sables d'Olonne has been awarded the "handiplage" label for the Grande Plage and the Plage de Tanchet.

The town of Les Sables d'Olonne provides beach chairs free of charge to enable people with reduced mobility to roll around in the sand and enjoy swimming.
The beach chair lets you enjoy the pleasures of the sand and the ocean 7 days a week from May to September on the urban beaches (Grande Plage and Tanchet) and in high season on Plage des Granges.

  Parking: 7 spaces - Boulevard Roosevelt.
  Access to the beach is via the ramp located by the Remblai swimming pool, promenade Lafargue.
  On the beach, 2 tiralos (beach chairs) are available free of charge, subject to reservation, from 20 April to 15 September 2024 from 10.30am to 7pm, every day. PRM toilets. PRM access mat (25mx3).
• Plage de Tanchet - 85180 Les Sables d'Olonne
  Parking: 3 spaces - avenue du Lac & 2 spaces - Parking Tanchet Littoral
  Access ramp to the beach.
  On the beach: PRM toilets. 1 tiralo (beach chair) is available free of charge, from 20 April to 15 September 2024 from 10.30am to 7pm, every day. Installation of the access mat, from May to September, 10mx3m PRM mat.
• Plage des Granges - 85340 Les Sables d'Olonne
  1 tiralo (beach chair) is available free of charge, from 15 June to 1 September 2024, on reservation during the days and hours of beach surveillance (June: weekends 12.00-19.00 and weekdays 14.00-18.30; July-August: 12.00-19.00).

For our pets
From April to October, dogs are not allowed on the Grande Plage, Tanchet and La Paracou.
However, they are welcome on the rest of the 22 kilometres of Sablais coastline, north of La Paracou, provided they are kept on a lead.
