It is true that the enlightened policies of the great Florentine dynasties, the Medici and then the Lorraine, played an important role in the creation of the great Florentine public collections of today.
The Uffizi Museum, the Palazzo Pitti and a number of other emblematic Florentine landmarks owe their jewels to the taste and determination of a few enthusiasts.
