To celebrate the 40th anniversary of Ulysses, his emblematic "ballet blanc", Jean-Claude Gallotta is today offering a revival of the work, sublimated by the energy of the dancers in his company, and as close as possible to the spirit of the original version.
Ulysse has been performed in several versions since its creation in 1981, including the famous Variations d'Ulysse, which entered the Paris Opera Ballet repertoire in 1995.
For this re-creation, the music has been revisited, as have the sets and lighting, thanks to the collaboration of the artistic team behind the original piece. The costumes, still white, have been reinterpreted, and this new version of Ulysses does not allow itself to be coloured by the tone of the present day, but on the contrary, tends to illuminate it.
Gallotta proposes a skilful choreography that he sees as an in-between, between the natural and the retouched. In this way, he responds to fears, anxieties and the uncertain future with a violently lively piece.
