LES SABLES-D'OLONNE

About

To mark the tenth edition of the Vendée Globe, the town of Les Sables d'Olonne has invited Titouan Lamazou, the first winner of this legendary solo, non-stop, non-assisted race, to the MASC.

The yachtsman is also an artist who travels the world as a painter and draughtsman. He has made countless stopovers, and his vagabond works capture faces and landscapes through the images and words that intertwine in his notebooks, on paper, canvas or wall.

His most recent work probes the mysteries of nature, disproportionate, fascinating and yet so fragile, in the wake of the 'critical zone' defined by scientists at the dawn of this new millennium and observed by Bruno Latour. This thin film, barely a few kilometres around the earth, gathers in the air and under the seas the resources necessary for the biosphere.

The starry skies painted by Titouan Lamazou, which trace maps from the Caribbean to the Marquesas Islands and bring back buried histories, hint beneath their sublime and infinite beauty at the care we must take with our landscapes.

His works and his starry skies echo the great sailors who will be setting sail from Les Sables d'Olonne on 10 November 2024 for the "Everest of the Seas".
