As a scandal engulfs the President of the United States and unnerves the editorial staff of New York Investigation, journalist Julia Robinson finds her life shattered in a courtroom when she thinks she recognises her partner, who died 7 years earlier, in the dock.

Her investigation into this mystery intersects with that of her team, and the small New York Investigation unit finds itself confronted with a programme of mass manipulation on an unprecedented scale. Together, despite their differences, they will have to uncover the biggest scandal since Watergate.
