Whether you are in optimist, dugout canoe, SUP, kite, windsurf or sailboat, come and record your GPS track and enter the ranking the day the new Sables d'Olonne Speed Base goes online!

ANT-ARCTIC-LAB

What is the ANT-ARCTIC-LAB?
It is a very ambitious yacht and sail building challenge led by Norbert Sedlacek to highlight several industrial developments in the marine industry using environmentally friendly products that are safe, tested and widely available.

ANT-ARCTIC-LAB Challenge: Sailing Race with Skipper Norbert Sedlacek

34.000 nautical miles
Single-handed - Non-stop - Unassisted
ANT-ARCTIC stands for two polar regions of our planet and LAB stands for "floating Open 60 feet laboratory".

The Route
- The objective is to sail a 60-foot yacht non-stop, single-handed and without assistance.
- A course of 34,000 nautical miles,
- Approximately seven months through the most dangerous seas on the planet, passing through: the Arctic and Antarctic ice, stormy oceans, the Doldrums at the Equator and many other difficult conditions.
departure 3.0: SEE YOU IN 2021!

Skipper Norbert Sedlacek will head for :
- the Bering Strait via the North Atlantic,
- the North-West Passage,
- the North-South crossing of the Pacific Ocean,
- the famous Cape Horn. Then,
- the tour of Antarctica via the Southern Seas,
- a second passage around Cape Horn,
- an ascent of the Atlantic Ocean from South to North towards Les Sables d'Olonne.
Respect for our nature "We do not inherit the earth from our parents, we borrow it from our children" by Antoine de SAINT-EXUPERY.

The mission of this maritime adventure is also to alert the media to :
- the changing state of the oceans,
- global warming,
- the state of the polar ice caps environment,
- the effect of rising CO2 emissions on our planet.
This extraordinary challenge will be another extreme adventure for skipper Norbert Sedlacek on his 60ft Open60 AAL prototype racing boat.

It is the adventure of a whole multinational team
Professional sailors and yacht builders, naval architects and architects, engineers, students and many others are all united by a common interest: to study and promote new materials and production concepts to bring much more sustainability and environmental awareness.

The Challenge: building a 100% sustainable/recyclable yacht.
To offer real solutions with recyclable composites, bio-matrix systems or natural base materials that can be adopted by the industry.
The project will also show how the yacht can be recycled and how by using these building materials the yacht creates less damage to the environment than current yacht building methods.
The nature of the materials is not exclusive to the marine industry, it is possible to promote product sustainability across a wide range of the industry sector.
