Giant fresco of Cavac's Silos "Sand and Salt"
The work refers to seaside tourism, and to the salt economy, while cleverly playing with the name of the town of Les Sables-d'Olonne.
It took 2 months to create the fresco by the artist Taroe and the association "The Next Movement", with a surface area of 2,500m² and a height of 25 metres.
For the realization of this fresco, using 775 litres of paint to colour the surface all with a roller and a brush. Some of the faces are up to 5 metres high.
The total storage capacity of the Cavac silos is 22,000 tonnes.
The site stores cereals (soft wheat, durum wheat and maize) from the Vendée and Deux-Sèvres departments.
Each year, the commercial port of Les Sables d'Olonne exports more than 350,000 tonnes of cereals to the whole of Europe, in particular to the Italian agri-food group, Barilla.
