Saint-Nicolas Priory
Built by the monks of Sainte Croix de Talmont during the 11th century, the priory was successively pillaged during the religious wars, restored by Richelieu, and converted into a fortress, guardroom and gunpowder store between the late 18th and late 19th centuries. Dominating the entrance to the harbour and protected by two long jetties erected in the 18th century, the Priory, flanked by seven 18th century cannons, offers a splendid view over the bay.
