The Dunes
Like an embankment, fringing the Atlantic ocean, the dunes protect part of the hinterland from the prevailing winds and the assault of the sea. Given the optimum protection, a variety of dune-retaining plantsmay be found here: beachgrass, bedstraw, burnet rose, sea grape, purslane, etc.
